"Game of Thrones"-style House Generator

I created a little d6 based random generator for Game of Thrones houses while working on my WIP Indian fantasy RPG Jangli. Since I haven't posted in a while, I thought I'd share it here:

Random Game of Thrones (inspired) Houses

Roll twice for color palette (d6):

  1. Red
  2. Green
  3. Blue
  4. Black
  5. White
  6. Gold

Roll once for environment (d6):

  1. Deserts
  2. Grasslands
  3. Hills
  4. Jungles (use forests here for medieval European settings)
  5. Mountains
  6. Oceans

Roll once for motif (d6):

  1. Bear
  2. Blackbuck
  3. Cobra
  4. Elephant
  5. Peacock
  6. Tiger

Note that these motifs were picked out for a South Asian setting. For a more medieval European setting, try: (bear, dragon, fish, hawk, lion, wolf)

 Roll once for outlook (d6):

  1. Decisive
  2. Grim
  3. Hopeful
  4. Loyal
  5. Proud
  6. Vengeful

Rolling Something Up:

Rolls: 1, 3, 4, 2, 2

Color Palette: Red/Blue
Environment: Jungles
Motif: Blackbuck
Outlook: Grim

Interpreting the results:

  • Grim and Jungle go very well together, making me think of this group as a kind of conniving, jungle-dwelling faction that hides in the shadows of the woods
  • I would like a bit of a darker color palette, though I do like the choices here. I think I'll change it up slightly and make it red/black instead
  • The blackbuck motif doesn't totally fit, so I'll make that a hornbill instead - it represents the jungle quite well
  • For the name, something ominous would work well here, like Mritkar - that sounds spooky
  • Lastly, in terms of scale, I want this faction to be small-scaled, maybe only having a few forts and not much wealth

Now, for a write-up!

The Gates of Mrityudurg - (actual fort is Lohagad in Maharashtra)

House Mritkar

House Mritkar is led by the brooding warlord Raja Adarsh Mritkar, whose father founded the dynasty in the green hills of Hirvadesh. Amongst the foggy, wooded cliffs and mountains lies Mrityudurg, a heavily walled and nearly impenetrable hill-fort. Mrityudurg is armed with bombard cannons, scores of well trained archers, and numerous strong towers and fortifications. Within Mrityudurg is the palace and a temple to Lord Radeva, the god of storms. Outside, a large town sprawls throughout the jungle.

Land: heavily defended Mrityudurg hill fort, Mrityudurg town, villages dotted throughout the region
Resources: little wealth, moderately small but highly trained army, the allegiance of a powerful witch
Goals: expand throughout the area, become powerful in dark magic, properly establish dynasty
